Nature Song Of The Week

Many songs, poems, etc. have nature related themes that sometimes capture how we feel and what nature means to us. I'm going to have a Nature Song Of The Week, and with Christmas around the corner, I'm going to start off with a Christmas song. It's not a traditional Christmas song, so you may not have heard it, but please hear me out on it and give me a chance. The song is:

Medley: Alfie and the Christmas Tree/Carol For A Christmas Tree/It's In Every One Of Us.........From:

Don't laugh!!! This is most definitely NOT your traditional Christmas song, and don't let either the Muppets or John Denver keep you away from at least giving it a listen. This particular song/medley talks about a tree who loved his life in the woods and ultimately goes on to give the message that everyone has the potential to understand the need for peace on earth. I loved this song when my kids were little and now that they're older, we all love it. The whole album is surprisingly good, made I believe in 1979, which definitely was during the Golden Age of the Muppets. I can't believe this is 30 years old, and that I was 13 when this came out!!! This three decade old album (are they still called albums???) have some traditional songs, made unique by of course the MUPPETS, but what is surprising are some of the original songs beyond the traditional which really balances out a Christmas playlist. Another song on the album that fits with our nature theme here is "When The River Meets The Sea." This is not the greatest video below but was the best I could find. The actual song (It's In Every One Of Us) isn't heard until half way through so don't cut it off before you get to that point. You need to hear the entire 4 minute 10 second medley to fully appreciate the message. Is it sappy? Is it simple? Is it heartwarming? Yes, yes, and yes, but it's Christmas so it's okay!!!! Love it!!!
